Bride & Groom Stop Off For A Quick Big Mac

big-mac.jpgAlice Clark mentioned on our forums that she was planning on taking a diversion to McDonald’s on the way to her wedding reception, the idea being that Alice and Terry can grab some food and not have to worry about going hungry during the reception buffet.

What started as a bit of fun soon sparked a bit of media interest, from online local news sites, to the Sun newspaper - the problem was that as the story spread it was affected by the old Chinese Whispers syndrome… and what started out as a bit of fun and a practical way of getting some quick food, was soon being reported as Alice and Terry were holding their wedding reception, guests and all, in McDonalds!

I asked Alice to send me the ‘official’ story so the record could be set straight, so here it is.

Terry parents offered to arrange our reception for us, which was great we really appreciate that, they said they would organise a buffet, now me being the fussy cow I am, I am not keen on buffet food, one of the main reasons being the hygiene issue!!

Also the fact that on the morning of the wedding I proberly wont get a chance to eat anything, so Terry jokingly said to me lets go McDonald’s after the ceremony, I replied in full wedding gear! Realising I was taking him seriously he said “OK, why not”

So after the ceremony, whilst all the guests are heading to the reception at the County Arms in Truro, Terry, Myself, My Brother Martin and his fiancé Celia will be popping into McDonald’s for a big Mac! It will give me a chance to eat something, as at the reception I doubt I will get much chance to eat what with doing the who’s who rounds with his family!!

Also it will give us sometime together before the hustle and bustle of the reception.

I don’t know were the papers have got the idea of the whole reception being at McDonald’s because that has not once been mentioned! We have made it clear it is only 4 of us going! It’s not in any way a key part of our wedding, just a chance for the 4 of us to grab some food!

I know a lot of people see McDonald’s as unhealthy junk food, and that maybe so for some people, but Terry and I are a young, fit and healthy couple who enjoy swimming, keep fit and at home eating proper home cooked healthy meals!

The McDonald’s is an occasional treat, I can’t say how often because sometimes we go once a week other times we may not go for a few weeks! It all depends on how the mood takes us!

Just because we are doing this on our wedding day doesn’t mean we are junk food addicts! Were else can we get a meal quick, easy and cheaply without leaving the guest for too long?!!

I hope this clears this up!

Want a Photo of You Signing the Register?

signing-register.jpgIt may soon be outlawed.

Somebody with nothing better to do with their time is stirring up a fuss about photographing the Register and data protection.

They are claiming that by photographing the ‘real’ Register that the photographs may invade other the privacy of other people that have signed on the same page. And of course they are waving the ‘identity theft’ scares around at the same time - and just to make it sound a bit more of a ‘legal’ issue, rather than a ‘busy body’ issue, they say that the photos may breach Crown copyright.

There is no information contained in the Register that can’t be found elsewhere so it all seems a bit daft.

With that said, many Register offices have already adopted a policy of using a fake book for the photos, including those offices in Liverpool, Swindon, Durham and Wolverhampton.

Hitwise Top 10 Online Performance Award 2008!

Loading...

I just got this e-mail this morning.

Congratulations!

Hitwise is pleased to announce that www.weddingchaos.co.uk is a Hitwise Top 10 Award winner for the quarter ending ending January - March 2008.

During this period, www.weddingchaos.co.uk ranked No. 6 based on market share of visits among all United Kingdom websites in the Hitwise Lifestyle - Weddings industry.

This is great news as the overall 2007 rankings had us in 7th, so up by one place - not so great for www.weddingguideuk.com as they dropped below us - but hey, I’m not complaining!

You can see the 4 sites above us (yes, I did say 4, not 5…) by visiting the 2007 Hitwise Annual Awards website here, and choosing the Lifestyle - Weddings category.

The websites above us have all been around a long time and have very deep pockets, but we hope to gain ground on them this year and maybe next year move up another place or two!

Thanks to all those that use our website, and especially our forum members who keep coming back for more, sharing and chatting about all things wedding!

Ug Ug, Me Man, You Woman, Ug

kents-cavern.jpgA wedding venue with a difference… a place where man inhabited as far back as 40,000 years, a place where the walls are naturally formed limestone, dating back 385 million years, a place that is truly different from any wedding you would have been to before.

Yes - you can now get married inside a cave!

To be totally accurate it is a ‘cavern’ - although we wont split stegosaurus heads over the difference - to be precise it is Kents Cavern in Devon.
