Couples Rush To Marry On 08/08/08

Many Brunei couples are battling against time to tie the knot on the auspicious Aug 8th 2008, less than two weeks from today the much awaited date reads 08.08.08. This is the so called luckiest day of the century.

Lots of young couples have been waiting for the triple eight date that supposedly reads prosperity in numeric language.

Some members of public believe that the day symbolised luck and prosperity and it was important since it was hundred years ago that such date last occurred.

A groom-to-be said “What better day to have a wedding? The date is special and the day is easy to remember,” he said. “We,ve planned our big day for this date about a year ago after being engaged for several years”.

Couple Spend Wedding Night In Jail

Most people like to remember every  detail about their wedding day but  Andy and Ania Somora  would rather forget theirs altogether afterspending their wedding night in jail after being tasered by the police.

The couple’s big day started out just fine in Lakeside Michigan USA

Half way  through the reception  venue owner Judi Burnison called  the cops to tackle unruly guests who had spilt drinks and broken glasses .

After arriving at the venue the police officer in charge, told the  guests to evacuate the premises an announcement that didn’t go down to well with many guests.

While most of the  guests left the remaining continued to get upset and began shouting abuse at police.

Things took a bad turn after the police handcuffed the groom’s father and put him in the back of a police car.

The groom jumped in and according to witnesses was only restrained once he had been tasered at least twice he brides also got a nasty shock as she was holding on to his arm while he was being tasered.

The couple and three other guests were arrested and spent the night in jail.

   

  

Groom Stabbed At Wedding Reception

A groom who was stabbed along with his best man at a wedding party in the garden of an East Sussex home has said knife crime is “not just in London”.

Joe Pattenden Hunt spoke after being attacked on Saturday evening at the reception in Crowborough held a month after his wedding to his lovely bride Laura in June.

The pair were attacked after a group of gatecrashers disrupted the party.

A 23 year old man has been charged with two counts of GBH.

Mr Pattenden Hunt said I’ve lived here in this lovely country location for 27 years and always felt very lucky and fortunate for being here  and then something like this happens.

Police said the incident was rare.

Fears Grow For Online Wedding Gift Service

The online wedding list service Wrapit is in financial trouble and thousands of couples fear that their wedding presents may not be delivered.

 

Wrapit is in talks with banks to find out if they can avoid going into administration.

Many newly weds have either not received their wedding gifts or are still waiting for some of them to arrive.

Customers can still reserve gifts but Wrapit is not taking payments.

Ninety Year Old Finally Gets A White Wedding

NINETY YEAR OLD Mamerta Cabale finally got to walk down the  aisle in a flowing white wedding gown and veil yesterday after 75 years of marriage to her 102year old husband, Sabas Cabale.

The couple were married in a civil ceremony in the Philippines in 1933 after Mamerta a then  14 year old convent school girl eloped with Sabas a dashing chauffeur.

The couple has 10 children and went to live in  Australia 25 years ago  where their daughter cares for them.

Mamerta said she had always wanted to be married in a church and it has been a wonderful day.

Heaviest Man Vows To Walk Down Aisle

THE world’s heaviest man is hoping to slim down enough to walk his bride down the aisle.

Manuel Uribe, who lives in  Mexico, once weighed a half tonne but has dropped to about 320kg.

From his bed, where he has lived for six years, Mr Uribe said more than two years of steady dieting had helped him drop about 250kg from his Guinness record weight of 560kg.

He was waiting to hear whether The Guinness book of records will confirm his second title  the world’s greatest weight loss.

Lonestar Tops First Dance List

The song Amazed by US band Lonestar has beaten Bryan Adams and Robbie Williams to top a list of the UK’s most popular first wedding dances in 2007.

UK wedding DJs voted for their top 10 wedding songs.

Number two was Everything I Do, by Bryan Adams, followed by Robbie Williams at three with his hit Angels.

James Blunt made it into the chart at number four with  You’re Beautiful.

 Aerosmith’s Don’t Want To Miss A Thing came in at five.

Shania Twain was the only singer to appear twice on the list with Still The One, at six, and From This Moment On, at nine.

Seventh position went to Truly, Madly, Deeply, by Savage Garden.

 Van Morrison’s classic Have I Told You Lately came in at number eight.

Rounding off the list at ten was Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You.

New Rules To Tackle Forced Marriages

The rules for people bringing in spouses to the UK from overseas are to be changed in an attempt to tackle forced marriages.

The age limit will be raised from 18 to 21 and the foreign spouse will have to sign an agreement saying they will learn English before they come in to to the UK.

UK citizens who are going to marry foreigners will also need to register their intention to do so before leaving the UK.

This means a young person will know in advance that a marriage will take place overseas and who their prospective partner will be.

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said Forced marriage leads to victims suffering years of physical and mental abuse and in extreme cases unlawful imprisonment and rape.

It has no place in our society.

Wedding Dress Being Sold For Charity Is Stolen

A £1,500 designer wedding dress which was the centre piece of a Shrewsbury charity shop’s promotion has been stolen.

The Sue Ryder Care shop  is running a wedding dress promotion through the summer to boost support and offer cut-price dresses to brides to be.

But Michelle Purcell, store manager said the new dress by  designer Lila Lace had been stolen.

The store manager said:“It was a creamy, long, straight, designer gown in pure silk crepe. It has a price tag attached to it for £1,495, which is what it was originally sold for but we were selling it for £195.

The assistant manager was alerted when one of the volunteers who work in the shop found the empty coathanger on the rack.

Uma Thurman Denies Secret Wedding

 

Uma Thurman has denied reports that she has married her businessman boyfriend in a secret ceremony last month.

The Hollywood star was reported to have wed Arpad Busson earlier this month, using an engagement party as a cover up for their nuptials.

Thurman and Busson threw two  parties to mark their engagement, the first of which was on the grounds of the Swiss businessman’s home in Kensington, London last month.

The  second party was held at Uma’s Manhattan apartment earlier this month and it was this event which media reports alleged was the couple’s secret wedding.
