Sister Attacked Bride for No Wedding Invitation
When Annmarie Bricker, 23 found out she was not invited to her sister’s wedding she decided to show up anyway but instead of joining in with the celebrations she ended up being arrested for attacking the bride.
Annmarie told police that she went to the wedding reception because she just ‘wanted to talk’ to her sister and parents reference family problems and denies even touching her, even though five witnesses have come forward and contradicted her statement.
Newlyweds Nicholas and Loir Landry had been enjoyed their wedding reception hosted for them by Jeremy Glotzbach at his home when Annmarie appeared on the front porch.
According to reports given to the Sheriff’s Department in Porter Country, Indiana, Annmarie ‘pulled out clumps of Lori’s hair, struck her head and wrestled her to the ground during the struggle’. Thankfully neither one of the sisters’ required medical treatment.
After her arrest of a misdemeanour charge of battery, Annmarie resigned from her job as a Porter County 911 dispatcher.
Maybe her invite got lost in the post?
Married for 70 Years Still Exercising Together
A couple about to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary told news reporters that the success of their happy life together was that they ‘never sat around long enough to figure out what their secret was’.
Lee and Christine Sizemore have spent their married life doing everything together from fishing to dancing as well as travelling and doing the housework at the same time.
The couple from Hendersonville in Tennessee are still very active and five days a week they go on a two mile walk and when the weather is bad they stay at home and ride their exercise bikes.
However, their 70th anniversary will be spent by just taking it easy and having dinner together.
What wonderful news to hear of such a successful and happy marriage lasting for 70 years!
Weather Lets Down Father of Bride’s Surprise
Ted Whalley’s big wedding day surprise for his bride-to-be daughter was ruined because of the weather.
He was so looking forward to seeing their surprised faces when an aeroplane with seven-foot letter of ”Have a Halliwell Day Jo and Simon” trailing behind had been booked to fly above them
Unfortunately, just as the plane was due to take off the weather worsened and the flight had to be cancelled at the very last minute. The pilot called father of the bride Ted to tell him of the abandoned plans.
Ted said: “I got a phone call the day before to say it was all fine because there were windows of blue sky in the clouds.
“But then they told me they were stuck in snow in Sheffield and couldn’t get off the ground. It was disappointing but the ceremony was fantastic.”
Happily the planned surprise did not dampen Jo and Simon Halliwell’s wedding at Martyr Parish Church, Upholland and the day was a great success.
Such a shame when a lovely surprise is ruined because of the weather!
Premarital Class Reduces Cost of Wedding Licence
Couples in American who take a premarital education class may be offered a reduced price of the $75 wedding licence for only $15.
The normal waiting list of 10 days would also be waived and weddings ceremonies could be held on the same day as the licence is granted.
The two-tiered marriage licence offer is to promote partial antidote to divorce and hopefully bring a reduction to the 50 per cent divorce rates in the four states of Florida, Maryland, Oklahoma and Minnesota.
Senator Mark Christensen will be presenting his proposed bill to the U.S Supreme Court and hoping for success this time after he failed to have his bill passed two years ago.
During a hearing at the Judiciary Committee last week he said “failed marriages and broken homes cause personal hurt and leave taxpayers to pick up some of the financial pieces.
He went on to say that “nothing in the bill forces couples to take classes, but why you wouldn’t want to improve your chances of marriage? If you love that person, you should want to be a good (partner)”.
Classes for ‘how to be a good lover’ next maybe?
Boxer Dog is Guest of Honour at Wedding
A boxer dog who saved a woman’s life has been invited to her wedding as a guest of honour.
Boris the boxer dog saved bride-to-be Zoe Christie from dying of hypothermia when he found her lying unconscious in a field in St Mary, Devon while being taken for a walk by his owner John Richards.
Richards said: “I had walked past Zoe but Boris found her and wouldn’t come so I turned round and went back.”
When he saw Zoe he initially thought she was dead and called the police who found a tiny pulse.
While being flown to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital Zoe’s heart stopped and she had to be resuscitated.
Christie’s dad Trevor, 40, of Yonder Street, Ottery St Mary, said: “We never thought we would see the day. When she was lying there in intensive care we didn’t know if she would have brain damage but she has made a full recovery.
Zoe had lost her way in the dark winter evening while walking back home and would have died if Boris had not been persistent in his barking
Now the 21-year-old care assistant who once spent two weeks in intensive care fighting for her life is busy organising her wedding which is to be held in Turkey later this year to fiancé Chris.
When writing out the reception guest invites John Richards and his wife Sheila were first on the list and Zoe told the Telegraph “We were total strangers but now know each other’s life stories.
“They will be our guests of honour – and I would love Boris to be there too,” she added.
I Wonder if Boris will get his own ‘doggy’ wedding favour? Good Boy!

Bride and Groom Leave Treasured Box in New York Taxi Cab
A box containing cards, cheques and mementos from a perfect wedding day was left in the boot of a taxi cab by a newlywed pair who almost cancelled their honeymoon because of the lost treasures.
Thankfully it was found by an honest cab driver who after looking through the cards and finding an envelope with their address on it he returned it to the doorman of the building where the couple lived.
Haron ur Rashid, 50 has been driving taxis in New York City for over five years and lives in the Bronx. He told the Daily News, “I tell the doorman ‘This is important,’”
The identity of the honest driver went undiscovered by the family until one of the groom’s relatives happened to recognise Rashid’s cab on the Tuesday as he was unaware the box had been found and returned.
The relative was told by Rashid “I said to him, ‘Brother, I found it.”
Newlyweds David and Christine Fitzhenry were given the joyous news of the return of their priceless box while on honeymoon in Mexico.
Nice to know there are still honest people out there!
Hot Wedding Colours for 2009
Our homes generally set the trend for forthcoming wedding colour schemes along with the seasonal catwalk trends in current fashion styles.
And so the question on every bride & wedding planner’s lips is, ‘What will be the hot wedding colour trends for 2009?’
2007 and 2008 have seen our brides showcasing the following colour trends; Soft Greens with White, Lilac with Purple tones, Chocolate Brown and anything in Monochrome Black & White. These colours have been so popular and may still continue into 2009 weddings & events, though an explosion in fresher, brighter colours is more likely.
In contrast to the softer more subtle shades of last year, the forthcoming trends for 2009 will be far more exotic, brightly coloured and – believe it or not – almost luminous! Now before you start to panic, you do not need to go for anything too ghastly or too dominating. However, any bride who wishes to strut her stuff in style in 2009 needs to make a bold splash of colour if she wishes to remain in-line with other fashionistas!

Subtle Colour Splash
So, how do you get a subtle colour splash into your big day without going overboard? Well, the key is to keep the main areas understated and classic. In other words, keep the bridal gown classical and elegant; choose carefully co-ordinated bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen outfits. You can then go for broke with table accessories, place settings, floral arrangements, venue decor and the trimmings on your wedding cake.
Look out for big tropical colour schemes focusing around Turquoise and Bright Yellow Shades. Mix these colours in with a tropical wedding theme. Bold favour boxes trimmed with yellow and blue ribbons and co-ordinating place settings will give guests the illusion of the heady climes of the tropics! Ask your florist about introducing a splash of these colours into floral centrepieces and co-ordinate with wedding cake trims.
Making a comeback this year will also be Bright Orange colour schemes. These will work really well when coupled with softer peach tones and the occasional shocking orange splash. You could dot bright orange cameras and bright orange petals about your reception tables for maximum effect. Tie peach favour boxes with bright orange ribbon and introduce Orange Gerberas or Tiger Lilies into bridal bouquets and floral centrepieces.
Pinks are always in fashion when it comes to wedding style, but as 2009 is all about making a statement, strong, luminous pinks are the shades to go for. As before, keep dresses and bridal party outfits classical and think about introducing the pink tones into reception decor. A great way to get bright luminous pink into your event is by having a cup-cake wedding cake. Each mini-cake can be tiered to give the effect of an all-encompassing wedding cake, yet a retro luminous pink icing and a fancy motif topping will give each cake a trendy feel. Mini cakes are also a massive hit with younger guests and some wedding cake specialists are able to make individual cakes to cater for various food intolerances which are worth knowing. Floral arrangements can be kept white and interspersed with bright pink feathers and co-ordinating ribbon.
So, whether you are having a tantalisingly tropical event, an outrageous orange occasion or a pretty pink affair, anyone who’s anyone in 2009, will definitely be hosting a bright, bold, beautiful and full-of-colour wedding!

Two Minor Girls Married to Frogs in India
Two seven year old girls were ‘married’ to frogs at an annual Pongal (harvest) festival in the remote village of Pallipudupet in India while villagers threw themselves into the ceremonies with gusto.
Residents living in the western part of the village represented relatives of the brides’ and others from the eastern part play-acted as relatives of the grooms.
Traditional elements of a wedding finished off with a sumptuous feast was conducted ‘to prevent the outbreak of mysterious diseases in the village’ according to an elderly woman resident.
‘Brides’ Vigneswari and Masiakanni were dressed in traditional wedding finery of gilded sarees and adorned with gold jewellery while the frogs went for the ‘native natural’ look and tied to long sticks decorated with garlands.
Hundreds of villagers attending the two separate ceremonies and chanted hymns while the temple priests tied and garlanded the brides’ and magalsutras (auspicious thread) on behalf of the frogs.
The frogs were then thrown back into temple pond after the ceremony and the girls went back to lead a normal life.
Poor frogs never got a chance to be kissed either I bet!
