Nine Year old Bride Battles Leukaemia

wedA nine year old girl has become a young bride with as little as two weeks left of her oh so young life.

Little Jayla Cooper from Dallas in Texas is about to lose her two year battle with leukaemia and one of her last wishes was to marry her best friend seven year old Jose Griggs who is a fellow leukaemia patient.

The young couple met at the Children’s Medical Hospital in Dallas when undergoing medical treatment and at their ‘wedding’ last week they vowed to be ‘friends forever’.

The ceremony was held and celebrated at the Great Wolf Lodge in the Grapevine Water Park where a home video was taken of Jayla being walked down the aisle on the arm of her father Jerrod Cooper.

Dallas’s CBS 11 news was told by Jayla how she ‘had fun dancing with her father, her granny and her husband’.

With so little time left to the young bride the family are taking every day as it comes and enjoying every sweet moment they can.

On a brighter note doctors believe new groom Jose is recovering well from his leukaemia.

God Bless this Tiny Bride

Couple Buy Wedding Outfits from EBay

atumn-bouquet1.jpgMark Ward, 45 and Tracey Widdowfield, 46 bought the majority of their wedding gear from EBay and paid for it all by items they sold on the world famous internet auction site.

When Tracey told Mark that she did not want a white wedding they decided to make their special day a unique Goth theme.

Mark said: “We are not big Goth fans, but I like dressing up so we went for it.”

They spent months looking on the internet for their wedding outfits and managed to get everything from Tracey’s Goth style green silk dress to tail suits complete with top hats for Mark and their son’s.

Mark’s sons Matthew Ward, 11, was ring bearer, and Ben Ward, 13, was best man while Tracey was given away by son David Widdowfield, 23. Tracey’s other son Ian Widdowfield, 24, was unable to be at the wedding.

Weird Al Yankovic’s EBay song was the first song played at the wedding which seemed quite apt.

A civil ceremony was held at the register office in Hartlepool and was followed by further ceremony at the Hillcarter Hotel with over 80 guests present.

The couple had met online two and a half years previously via a dating agency and after chatting for just a couple of weeks they met up in Middlesbrough.

Mark said “We hit it off. I ended up moving out of my house and getting a flat on the Marina within a couple of weeks so we could live together.”

They now intend to relist and hopefully sell all the items back on EBay.

Jade Goody’s and Jack Tweed’s Fairytale Wedding

red-rose.jpgFinal preparations are underway for Jade Goody’s fairytale wedding today (22 February) when she will marry her long term boyfriend Jack Tweed.

The whole country is aware of Jade’s terminal illness and well wishes, flowers and gifts have been pouring in from members of the public, stars and celebrities worldwide.

Jack has said that he intends to make their wedding day so special for the love of his life Jade and to make sure she feels every bit the princess he knows her to be.

The whirlwind preparations have been underway since Jade was told by doctors 2 weeks ago that her illness was terminal and she now has only a few months left to live.

Leaving two beautiful sons’ behind the woman who became famous from the TV reality show Big Brother has been busy sorting out her affairs to make sure they will be left provided for after she has gone.

Selling the filming rights of her wedding and exclusive magazine rights for £1.5 million nobody can blame this mother of two for planning ahead for her children’s future.

Jade will walk down the aisle with six bridesmaids and nurses will be on standby to ensure she makes it through the ceremony in as much comfort as possible.

I’m sure there won’t be a dry eye in the church or from those watching on the television when this brave woman says her vow’s to the man she loves and will soon sadly leave a widower.

Green Guide for Weddings – Book Review

Green Guide to WeddingsIs having a ‘Green’ wedding important to you?

If you are one of the growing number of people who want to preserve and protect our environment, then having a green wedding is a must.

I have just finished reading the ‘Green Guide for Weddings’  by Jen Marsden and thought I would tell you a little about the book…

Before I start I should point out that Katherine is listed in the Acknowledgements and Wedding Chaos is quoted numerous times throughout the book – but I can assure you that by contributing towards the book we are in no way bias :)

The book is over 200 pages long and covers all aspects of getting married, the main sections are :

  1. Planning your Wedding
    1. The Wedding Budget
    2. The Wedding Planners
    3. The Venue
    4. The Transport
  2. On The Day
    1. The Attire
    2. The Jewels
    3. The Beautification
    4. The Catering
    5. The Dreamy Details
  3. Post Wedding
    1. The Gift List
    2. The Honeymoon
  4. The Green Directory
    1. Suppliers and Businesses who focus on being Green.

Each section take a look at the issues and offers  practical advice and suggestions on how to be as green as possible.  There is a wealth of information that is not only useful, but also interesting to read.

The book is littered with tips and ideas from professionals working within the wedding industry and the book concludes by listing loads of green companies who can help make you wedding a green one.

I found this book to be both an interesting and informative read – and I’m not even planning a wedding – so if you are in the planning stages, and you do want to be green, I can’t think of a better source of information.

Gothic Bride and Groom say ‘I Do’ on Horror Rollercoaster Ride

gothic-bride.jpgAs if Friday the 13th is not superstitious enough for some, Karl and Gaynor Anderson went that little bit further by ‘spitting in the eye’ of luck and fortune as they happily exchanged wedding vows while on an extreme rollercoaster ride.

The bride and groom were dressed in Gothic outfits of white, black and red they had designed themselves and exchanged wedding vows to the sounds Marilyn Manson’s version of Tainted Love.

The horror fanatic couple had deliberately picked Friday the 13th for their wedding day. “It’s perfect,” said newly-wed Mrs Anderson. “We’re both mad about horror and we hoped to do something different on our wedding day – this was just what we wanted and it was terrifying.”

They had met at a Halloween party nine years ago and with their shared love of horror films they felt it only apt to exchange vows while on the horror film ‘Saw’ themed rollercoaster at Thorpe Park, in Chertsey, Surrey.

The extreme wedding vows entitled ‘The Newly-Deads’ was said within earshot of their 40 guests who were on the ride with them and who had joined in with the couples wishes and dressed in black make-up and vintage clothes.

Gay Penguins Get Married in the Zoo

penguinA pair of besotted male penguins are so in love with each other they have been given their very own wedding service in the Polarland Zoo in Harbin, north east China.

The ‘gay’ birds wanted so much to be parents that they kept stealing eggs from heterosexual penguin couples to add to their own nest.

They kept getting into trouble with members in their penguin group and were given the cold shoulder but the zoo’s keepers decided they deserved to be rewarded with ‘marrying’ them after they became successful parents with nesting and rearing newly hatched penguins which had been abandoned by their mothers.

The happy couple were dressed in the traditional bridal colour of a red with one sporting a tie and the other a red blouse. The sounds of the Wedding March were played in the icy wedding room while they were fed their favourite dish of spring fish.

“They have been a good couple and deserved their reward,” said one keeper.

He certainly pppppicked up his penguin!
