Jelly Wedding Rings for Children’s Wedding

Groom Kian Watson placed the jelly ring on his bride Chloe Little in front of all their friends at St Andrew’s Church in Botcherby while the wedding bells rang out and all their friends cheered and clapped.

The wedding was planned and hosted by the children from St Cuthbert’s School, Botcherby in Carlisle to give them a ‘taste’ of what the formalities of a wedding day could be like for them in the future.

All the children aged five to six enjoyed designing and making the wedding invitations and the favours and even helped make the wedding cake. Flowers were crafted from coloured tissue paper and the order of the service was written in their best handwriting.

Various roles such as the father of the bride, best man, ushers and bridesmaids were chosen by the children from the class and those that needed to wrote their own speeches for the reception.

Teacher of the class Miss Morris said: “The children learned songs for the ceremony and there was singing, then they came back to school and we had a little party with a disco and a reception with food. The couple cut the cake and the bride threw her bouquet. I thought rather than just telling them about it, if they got involved they would learn so much more.

“At the end of the day some were saying that they didn’t want it to end.”

Simpson Themed Wedding for Fanatic Groom

red-rose.jpgKnowing how much of a fanatical Simpson’s fan Gary Paul is, his bride-to-be Paula is showing how much she truly loves him by having their wedding themed around the famous TV hit series.

Gary has been a fan of the mad cap cartoon family since the very beginning and when making plans for the wedding it seemed fitting that on the most important day of his life he shared the celebrations with his second love.

Specially-themed Simpson wedding invitations have already been sent out, the cake has been ordered complete with Homer and Marge figurines and it seemed only natural to book the venue at the Springfield hotel.

Gary said, “It’s just a happy coincidence that it has the same name, it’s actually a really nice hotel.

Paula who is expected their first child is more than happy to have a Simpson themed wedding in Dublin next spring but will draw the line when it comes to dying her hair blue.

Groom Starts Fire in Hotel Room to Gain Time

When groom Tatsuhiko Kawata got cold feet he started a fire in his hotel room to buy him extra time.

Tatsuhiko from Japan was about to marry his girlfriend of three years but at the last moment he could not decide if he should go ahead with the planned wedding or stay with his wife of five years.

In his room at the Risonare hotel he scattered several litres of petrol around before setting it on fire. Numerous guests had to be evacuated while the fire was brought under control. Minor damages were caused by the fire started by the un-deciding groom.

Last week Judge Yasushi Watanabe sentenced 40 year old Kawata to five years in jail for arson and unauthorised entry to the hotel after saying he was ‘egoistic and short-sighted’. The defence’s argument that no-one was hurt in the fire was dismissed.

Barbie’s Own Bridal Collection

To capture the hearts of Japanese children the world famous doll Barbie is bringing out her very own bridal collection for grown-ups.

The gowns in the Barbie collection will have the doll’s logo embroidered on it and a selection of bows and ruffles will be available to ‘mix and match’ to enable individual brides-to-be to customise their own dress.

The bridal line that is only to be sold in Japan is part of Mattel Inc’s plans to introduce Barbie in the hope that children will fall in love with the doll and soon become a rival to the much loved Licca-chan that has the number one slot for dolls.

“What’s unique about Japan is that it’s a very strong adult-apparel market,” John Cullen, vice president of Mattel Brands, told Reuters during a visit to Tokyo to attend celebrations for Barbie’s 50th birthday.

“We want to be where girls are… we want to create a fashion brand that appeals to girls in all generations,” he added.

The bridal wear will be in the shops in June and will join other collection such as Barbie Golf and plans to introduce cosmetics and stationery under the same brand are underway for early next year.

Mattel believes that once their ‘apparel brand is established’ they can begin to target the children.

Barbie was initially made in Japan back in 1959 but her western looks have been no match for Licca-chan who’s sales figures have reached over 53 million.

Somehow I don’t fancy wearing a wedding dress that has somebody else’s name on it!

Photographer Sacks Bride to Be

A bride to be has been sacked by her wedding photographer as he claimed he was ‘under suspicion’ by her when she placed her request for how she wanted her photographs to be.

The row began after bride-to-be Michelle Knots emailed the photographer and pointed out the pictures of her friend’s wedding photographs. She said they there were informal and would like her shots to be more posed.

Photographer Gordon Bright who had already received payments of £300 from the couple returned her email saying he was cancelling their booking.

He told Michelle: “I am sorry you have doubts about our professionalism.

“Due to this fact and the comments made by yourselves concerning the style of our photographs which were discussed at a wedding fair we have decided that we are already under ‘suspicion’ and therefore could not work with you on your wedding day to our best ability.”

Michelle said was not criticising the photographer and added “We booked Bright Image after seeing them at a friend’s wedding and a wedding fair.

“We were really impressed with the quality of the photographs.

“So, we said: “The comments made at the wedding fair were that we would prefer more posed shots than natural shots of us and our guests.

“We had no doubts about his work and he was not under suspicion.”

Michelle and boyfriend Richard Taylor now have to start again to look for a photographer in time for their wedding at Matfen Hall, Northumberland in October.
