Wedding Budget Donated to Earthquake Victims
Following the devastation in Haiti, a bride from Maple Grove in Minnesota has decided to give what she can to Partners in Health and has allocated over two thousand dollars which is around twenty five percent from her wedding budget to give to the earthquake victims!
Leah Bogen, like any normal bride-to-be, has been busy planning her wedding from the dress to the reception food but after seeing pictures and hearing of the tragedy the residents of Haiti have suffered, she felt that she could not continue in her planning and felt the need to help in some way.
The money that she and her groom-to-be, Will Nicholson, have agreed to donate is the total amount that they had put aside for their wedding dinner and the pair have joked that they may be serving jam and peanut butter sandwiches on the day which is due to take place in June.
Will is full of admiration for his bride and her selfless decision!
Groom Makes False Claim
A lot of people tell little white lies, a lot of people get cold feet or become nervous in the lead up to their wedding but what they don’t do is to make false allegations to the Police about being robbed of over a thousand pounds in order to get out of paying for the wedding!
Twenty seven year old Taman Senai Utama from Kulaijaya in Malaysia was originally due to be married in July but after his father in law moved his wedding forward to February he panicked. Unable to raise enough money to pay for the wedding he resorted to lying and informed the Police that he had been robbed at knifepoint by two men on a motorbike while getting into his car after he had taken out a substantial amount of money from his account on four separate occasions that day. Not only did they take the money but he reported that they also snatched his receipts and cash card. He was unable to tell them a lot about the men but described the bike as a black Honda EX5 and that the fender was damaged.
When the Police looked into the matter, they found that the man, a factory technician, had in fact made withdrawals that day but that he had claimed to take out much more than the withdrawal limit allowed which raised their suspicions. When questioned further he admitted to the false report and was arrested. The money he withdrew was in fact hidden in his house!
Couple Marry on Mountain
Being on cloud nine for your wedding day is not normally taken literally but for one couple from Bridgewater in Southern Australia, they tried their best to get as high as they could when they got married on top of Aoraki Mount Cook, the highest mountain in New Zealand!
Gary Cook and Melinda Gaughwin decided on a venue in the Southern Alps and chose the Tasman Glacier as the location for their wedding ceremony. They were almost seven thousand feet in the air with temperatures of zero degrees when the couple said their vows, although the bride surprised her groom by singing her vows to him.
The couple who are both in their thirty’s completed the day with photographs, a hike around Hooker Valley and then a reception dinner at the Hermitage Hotel.
Tourist operators are saying that this type of wedding is becoming increasingly popular as more and more couples find new ways and locations to get married.
The couple commented that to them their wedding was more than they could have hoped and was just perfect!
Cheap Bubbly Pay Out
A castle located in Dundee in Scotland has been forced to pay out hundreds of pounds to a family who celebrated their wedding there after it was discovered that they had served a cheaper version of wine than the bride and groom had paid for!
The bride, thirty four year old Sheonagh Taylor stated that her family were embarrassed and felt deceived by the company’s actions.
Sheonagh’s father, Peter McLaren had paid the suppliers over three hundred pounds so that when guests arrived, they would be greeted with a glass of sparkling wine. What the guests received was Lambrini.
Mains Castle owners, Victor and Eva Peterson stated that when purchasing the Lambrini it was located in the wine section headed sparkling wine and defended their actions further by saying that a lot of couples serve a cheaper drink that is lower in alcohol initially.
Dundee Sheriff Court agreed with Mr McLaren that the product they had been served was inferior to that which they had ordered and awarded the retired law lecturer almost four hundred pounds. The family had lodged two further complaints which were denied.
Recycled Cans for Wedding Cost
A lot of couples today are looking at ways to help with the environment and support different charities etc and some of them include their efforts into their wedding preparations. A couple from Spokane in Washington who wanted to raise money for their wedding day by collecting and recycling tin cans has been given a large donation from a Pittsburgh company called Alcoa.
Twenty nine year old Peter Geyer and his partner twenty five year old Andrea Parrish hope to fund their special day which is due to take place in July this year and have asked everyone to donate their squashed cans to them. They have advertised their campaign on Facebook and Twitter and have even produced their own website.
They estimate that they will need to collect over four hundred thousand cans and while Alcoa, a manufacture of aluminium, will not be physically delivering any cans to the couple, they will donate money towards the recycling rates of the local area.
With this kind donation, the couple have stated that they are over sixty percent of the way there to achieving their goal.
Pink’s Las Vegas Anniversary
Pop singer Pink, born Alecia Beth Moore, and her husband Carey Hart celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary by painting the town red in Las Vegas.
Thirty year old Pink and thirty four year old Carey were married in January 2006 in Costa Rica. Carey is a motocross motorcycle racer and was born in Las Vegas.
Like any normal couple the two have had their ups and downs and their relationship has been described, on occasion as being very on and off. Two years into their marriage the couple separated for a substantial period of time after allegations that Carey had cheated on Pink with a girl he apparently met at a nightclub in Hollywood. The couple did however remain friends during their year long separation and eventually they reconciled.
The duo celebrated their evening together with a romantic meal at the Café Martorano in Sin City followed by the Cirque du Soleil where they watched the Beatles Love show and were even lucky enough to meet the cast backstage where Pink was presented with flowers.
First Gay Wedding in Parliament
Over the last few months there have been a couple of ‘firsts’ for same sex couples when the first gay marriages took place in both China and Argentina. Although the China marriage wasn’t legal in the eyes of the law it was still a milestone for the country. In the UK, it has been publicised that sometime in the next few months that a gay wedding ceremony will take place in Parliament, for the very first time!
John Bercow, the House of Commons Speaker stated that he is hopeful that the civil ceremony should take place sometime before May this year, before a possible election. A licence to host events such as these ceremonies has been applied for by the relevant authorities. The UK has been able to grant licenses for civil partnerships since 2005 but the ceremony is not permitted to take place at any religious venues. At present, couples are able to marry within the grounds of Parliament and in the chapels but not the Parliament building itself.
In a bid to sway public votes, David Cameron from the Conservative party has promised that should they win the election that he will give civil partners the rights to tax breaks.
Mr Bercow is confident that Westminster City Council will grant permission very soon.

Supermarket Café Wedding
Couples that marry often reminisce about the place where they first met and sometimes revisit the location to rekindle the first flames of love. Some couples who prefer something a little different from the norm decide that rather than getting married underground or participate in a bungee jump wedding, the best place for their wedding ceremony is the actual location where they met!
Sixty seven Fina Nikolos and her husband seventy five year old Jack Frankel from Florida met while shopping at the Whole Foods Market in Coral Springs in the month of May. It was raining outside and Jack was waiting by the supermarket door holding his shopping and waiting for the rain to stop. Fina saw Jack and decided to offer him a lift home rather than leave him standing there. In appreciation for the lift, Jack asked Fina out to dinner and the pair have been together ever since.
Jack and Fina were married in the café of the supermarket watched by their friends and family.
Black Eyed Peas Surprise Renewal
The singer Fergie from the band, Black Eyed Peas was surprised by her actor husband Josh Duhamel with a renewal ceremony held on a beach in California.
It hasn’t always been roses and chocolates for the couple when last year there were allegations flying around that Josh had cheated on his wife with a stripper called Nicole Forrester. Josh wholeheartedly denied all the claims and the couple seem to have moved on from this predicament.
Thirty four year old Fergie was emotional during the ceremony which thirty seven year old Josh had arranged without her knowledge. They were spending time together to celebrate their anniversary at the Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara when a minister turned up to conduct the ceremony, after which the couple spent some time in the Resort’s restaurant.
The pair were married in Malibu in January 2009 and would have been celebrating their first wedding anniversary the following day.
