Dresses for Zambian Brides
A charity located in Berkshire is trying to get the public to donate their wedding dresses so that they can send them to Zambia in Africa so that the brides-to-be over there can also feel like princesses on their wedding day!
So many dresses are boxed away after the wedding day is over and sometimes never seen again so the charity, Aids Support Awareness Project (ASAP) is encouraging people to give their dresses. Forty six year old Abi Parker runs the charity in Windsor from home and has confirmed that the company will rent the donated dresses to upcoming brides all over Zambia. She went on to say that a Zambian bride wearing a white wedding dress gives the Bride’s family a high stature within the community as normally only rich families are able to provide white wedding dresses.
Abi, who lived in Zimbabwe for ten years, has already received a world-wide response to her appeal and has received dresses from Canada, Norway and Russia as well as the UK. One of the dresses they received was over sixty years old and still in excellent condition.
