Bad Weather Conditions Did Not Stop Wedding
A bride to be had to battle her way through the ice and snow that has covered most of the UK and brought many Cities to a standstill this week.
Natalie Brittion was not going to let the bad weather conditions stand in the way of getting to her groom-to-be Philip Cass who was waiting for her with their 22 month old baby son Elthan.
The flower arrangers and hairdresser had got stuck in the snow and were unable to reach Natalie so with some quick thinking she asked her hairdresser friend to stand in at the last minute and help do her hair.
When Natalie finally managed to begin her journey she was held up again by having to wait while a lorry that had overturned was moved and they almost never made it when a car skidded and came hurtling towards them but managed to stop just in time.
Having to stick to a speed limit of 30 miles per hour in heavy traffic got her thinking that she was not going to make it after all and “At one point I was quite tearful and didn’t think I’d get there” bride-to-be Natalie said.
The ceremony had been put back an hour when it was realised the bride was having trouble getting to the ceremony.
The wedding car waited at the end of the road as it was unable to get down to the bride’s house and Natalie put on her work boots and trousers so she could get changed at the hotel but time was running out and even her make-up had to be done in the car.
Thankfully she reached the Tortworth Court Four Pillars Hotel one hour and 15 minutes later and the ceremony was able to go ahead.
All but two of the 35 guests had managed to get there and the newlyweds said “It was worth it, everyone says the pictures in the snow are amazing and it certainly makes a day that everyone will remember”.
There’s snow wedding like a white one!
Hot Wedding Colours for 2009
Our homes generally set the trend for forthcoming wedding colour schemes along with the seasonal catwalk trends in current fashion styles.
And so the question on every bride & wedding planner’s lips is, ‘What will be the hot wedding colour trends for 2009?’
2007 and 2008 have seen our brides showcasing the following colour trends; Soft Greens with White, Lilac with Purple tones, Chocolate Brown and anything in Monochrome Black & White. These colours have been so popular and may still continue into 2009 weddings & events, though an explosion in fresher, brighter colours is more likely.
In contrast to the softer more subtle shades of last year, the forthcoming trends for 2009 will be far more exotic, brightly coloured and – believe it or not – almost luminous! Now before you start to panic, you do not need to go for anything too ghastly or too dominating. However, any bride who wishes to strut her stuff in style in 2009 needs to make a bold splash of colour if she wishes to remain in-line with other fashionistas!

Subtle Colour Splash
So, how do you get a subtle colour splash into your big day without going overboard? Well, the key is to keep the main areas understated and classic. In other words, keep the bridal gown classical and elegant; choose carefully co-ordinated bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen outfits. You can then go for broke with table accessories, place settings, floral arrangements, venue decor and the trimmings on your wedding cake.
Look out for big tropical colour schemes focusing around Turquoise and Bright Yellow Shades. Mix these colours in with a tropical wedding theme. Bold favour boxes trimmed with yellow and blue ribbons and co-ordinating place settings will give guests the illusion of the heady climes of the tropics! Ask your florist about introducing a splash of these colours into floral centrepieces and co-ordinate with wedding cake trims.
Making a comeback this year will also be Bright Orange colour schemes. These will work really well when coupled with softer peach tones and the occasional shocking orange splash. You could dot bright orange cameras and bright orange petals about your reception tables for maximum effect. Tie peach favour boxes with bright orange ribbon and introduce Orange Gerberas or Tiger Lilies into bridal bouquets and floral centrepieces.
Pinks are always in fashion when it comes to wedding style, but as 2009 is all about making a statement, strong, luminous pinks are the shades to go for. As before, keep dresses and bridal party outfits classical and think about introducing the pink tones into reception decor. A great way to get bright luminous pink into your event is by having a cup-cake wedding cake. Each mini-cake can be tiered to give the effect of an all-encompassing wedding cake, yet a retro luminous pink icing and a fancy motif topping will give each cake a trendy feel. Mini cakes are also a massive hit with younger guests and some wedding cake specialists are able to make individual cakes to cater for various food intolerances which are worth knowing. Floral arrangements can be kept white and interspersed with bright pink feathers and co-ordinating ribbon.
So, whether you are having a tantalisingly tropical event, an outrageous orange occasion or a pretty pink affair, anyone who’s anyone in 2009, will definitely be hosting a bright, bold, beautiful and full-of-colour wedding!

Children Not Invited to Wedding – Get Over It!
The BBC Online Magazine ran a story loooking at the frequently discussed issue of whether children should be invited to weddings. The thing that really bugs me is comments like this one
My husband approached his best man, asking if we could bring her and explaining she would take no space or cost money as she was very tiny and consumed only milk – but he turned us down flat. My husband went to the wedding on his own, and we haven’t seen the couple in question since. As far as we’re concerned, if they can’t accept our kids, we’re not that keen to meet up with them.
My reply to this lady is simple. “If you are not prepared to accept their wish to not have children at their wedding then I can be pretty sure that they are not too keen on meeting up with you either!”
What is it with parents and their little darlings?
“If my kids are not invited I am not going either” – why not?? Get over youself and stop being so selfish!
“I can’t get a baby sitter” – with 12 months notice? Come on, get real.
“Other kids are not invited, but not mine. It’s not fair” – Boo hoo. Suppose you will be taking your ball home now?
“My kids won’t cause any trouble, they are well behaved” – Hand on heart time ; always, 24*7*365, 100% guaranteed to not spoil the bride and grooms day? Yes? Don’t believe you.
“Children create a great atmosphere” – Brilliant, throw a party of your own and enjoy it.
Lets face it, the kids are not going to know what they are missing and probably would not care anyway, so perhaps the real reason parents get all up tight about this issue is simply down to their own selfishness?

Honeymoon Hot Spots
It seems Hawaii and the Caribbean are at the top of the list and there’s no wondering why! These islands have the most wonderful beaches and breath taking scenery and make the ideal place for a newly wed couple to relax and enjoy each others company.
I’m not surprised to see good old paris still in the top ten as it will always be known as the city of romance and has some great landmarks to go and see.
I was pretty shocked to hear that the ice hotel in Sweden is now becoming very popular with you newly weds and i must admit after seeing some amazing pictures of the hotel i can see why so many people are going there. Even the beds are made of ice!!! (good excuse to keep each other warm.)
One place i didn’t expect to see was Disney Land! but what the hey it’s your honeymoon you enjoy it.

So are you a take it easy on the beach person? or are you the kind that wants to see the sights and take in as much as you can on your honeymoon?
After you’ve said…..YES!!!!!!
Ok seeing as the average wedding now cost £11’000!! you need not only think about where you’re getting the money from but how and on what you are going to spend it ? What is more important to you?? Do you blow most of your budget on the dress of your dreams or do you spend less on that fab dress and pump all your hard earned cash into a venue that will make all your guests green with envy (the money’s worth it just to see that gobsmacked look on their faces)
So just how much is your big day worth to you are you one of those people who say sod the money this is the biggest day of my life and i want it MY WAY!!!! (sounds like a bridezilla to me! ) or the sort that happy to run off to a sunnier climate with your intended other and say I DO….. on a quiet beach (at the risk of upsetting the inlaws!) or maybe you’re some where in the middle and you’re happy to get hitched in your local register office and a good old knee’s up afterwards (Hey it worked for me!)
So it doesn’t matter if you get married in buck palace or naked in a field (ooeerr) In the end it all comes down to one thing! Marrying that special someone who you want to spend the rest of your life with.
